How much oil does the 1.3i 4EFE starlet gearbox need?

Can't find it in the Haynes manual!!

Was going to check level but thought I might as well replace it.

Cheers

Ah ballox. Stuck a tube in and it looked clean enough not burnt or smelly so topped it up!

Out of interest, where is the filler and how is the level checked? (I know most of the time you fill up to the filler level but some cars are different, like the Skoda Favorit/Felicia which uses the speedo drive gear as a dipstick).

From Haynes manual on the 4EFE manual gearbox...

"On the lower front side of the transmission

housing, you will see a plug (see illustration).

Remove it. If the lubricant level is correct, it

should be up to the lower edge of the hole.

3 If the transmission needs more lubricant (if

the level is not up to the hole), use a syringe or

a gear oil pump to add more. Stop filling the

transmission when the lubricant begins to run

out the hole".

Hello everyone,

Dicky-Art you told about a Haynes manual on the 4EFE.

But I didn't find it on this site:

http://www.haynes.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&categoryId=38062&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=16064&top_category=10001

Is there another internet site where I can find such a starlet 4EFE repair manual?

I don't find it :crybaby: so if you have a link... :yahoo:

Bye.

There isn't one for the Starlet of this age due to Toyota copyright :censor: b*ll*x :crybaby:

I downloaded a Toyota Corolla (ISBN 1 84425 286 8) which has the 1.3i 4EFE engine.
