No it's just coil packs.

Have you tried giving the ECU a reset?

Does temperature make a difference?

I mean is it happening when cold? Or Hot? Or all the time?

Also is this a 140bhp 1ZZ-FE VVTI or a 190bhp 2ZZ-GE VVTLI?

When it misses is there anything going on with the lights at all?

I dont mean in the way of error codes but like do the gauges go out or dim?

When was your last oil change? was the filter changed too?

What does it sound like when idleing?

It will do it at any temperature, i could do it as soon as i start driving in the morning or later after i have been driving for hours.

it is the 140bhp 1ZZ-FE VVTI

lights and gauges dont change as far as i know

last oil change and filter was only a few month ago, and sometimes when it idles it can be quite erratic like between 500-2000 mainly around the 1000-2000 mark

Hummmmmm

If you've already changed the MAF i would suggest you next change your lambda sensors.

They arent a lot and are straight forward to replace.

Les did a nice guide on changing them - http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=60799=http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=60799

I had a very similar problem on my BMW 330i. Turned out to be caused by a combination of a shot MAF, a dodgy lambda and a coil pack.

I have changed my fuel filter and it didnt help at all,

I'm taking it to get its injectors tested next then the lambda.

I will keep you updated on any changes or progress.

Thanks for the advice Leeky, if you think of anything else let me know please :)

  • 2 weeks later...

FINALLY!!!

Yesterday i was driving to pick my girlfriend up from work, just pulled off the motorway and the car loses power again like normal... and then!!! ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT!!!

Put it on a diagnositc machine today and there it was... Throtle Position Sensor!! haha

So... anyone know if this is a big job to change or how much it will cost or if it is the sensor itself or could it be the wiring breakdown?

Just wondering what is most likely

thanks :)
