I think a local petrol station selling alcohol isn't too bad, as they are a convenience shop these days too, and people do walk to them to get the odd pint of milk, loaf of bread or pack of !Removed!, so picking up some beer isn't too bad.

Motorway services are used mostly by people who HAVE to drive to get there, and are usually miles away from home, so if anyone was tempted to drink and drive, i expect that would make it easier.

my point the adverisment is just for alcohol, not mentioning the other items the sell.

My local fuel stations prices for fuel are 6p a litre more expensive than anywhere else, I wonder how they sell any fuel  They started selling booze a few years back, the shop is always full of people, they are probably making more money on booze and other supermarket goodies than they do on fuel, it does not sit comfortably with me either, but i suppose you can buy booze just about anywhere at any time these days

I remember an off licence a few miles from me in the 60's and 70's that was only ever open for a few hours in the evening, how times have changed :!Removed!: :!Removed!:

Kingo

I totally agree with you on the Motorway point! But as said, if they are going to drink and drive they'll do it anyway I guess. I have a problem with people who drink and drive! Having a legal limit of 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath in my mind is wrong. If you're gonna drink! then dont drive I say...

We should adopt the same policy as Norway.

When i was out there a few years ago, i was advised to throw my mouth wash away, and purchase some from the local shop, as the tiny amount of alcohol in UK mouthwash might cause problems if you had a roadside breath test.

Zero tolerance is the only way to enforce it properly, then there is no confusion about how much you can or can't drink.

They are much more efficient here in the US. They put the alcohol directly into the fuel:
