Help =S ... What Is With My Wires ?

Hi there!

Wonder if anyone could shed some light on this for me...

I've just brought a Celica GT (1994)...

I'm going through the process of stripping it out and giving it a spruce up, including some upgrades =)

It was in good working order when I brought it but needed a good clean =( ... anyway...

I was getting quite annoyed with the after-market immobiliser that was fitted to the car, I believe the make was Selca ?

Removed it successfully, and the car works fine (I have a degree of knowlege with electrics) ...

Now though, as I'm stripping it right back to bear bones i removed the glove box and found the original factory fit Alarm/Immobiliser, with a variety of wires disconnected, now in an attempt to get this working again i plugged the wires that were lose back in (not much room for error as each one only goes in to a particular socket and only one way round)

BUT>>>

After plugging the wires in tried starting the car, nothing... but all i can hear is like a clicking sound coming from the one box (there is 2 little black boxes) ...

Anyone know what is going on? ... When i remove the wires i plugged in it works fine =S ...

My personal best guess as to what has happened is the car used to have a remote fob/immobiliser key, this then stopped working or the key was lost so the other system was installed ...

>>> All constructive input greatly appreciated

Thanks

Phil =)

Sounds like the factory system packed in and was replaced with the aftermarket one.

I'd strip it all out personally...

Thanks :) .. I think I will to be fair. Any ideas how to achieve this as as soon as I unplug the one set of wires that stay in the little black box nothing works??

Looking on the internet, there are 2 black boxes, and I believe one is the ECU? am I correct in believing this is the bigger of the two?

Cheers

Phil
