Cold Start Problem

Hi all,

I have a problem stating the avensis when its cold and when hot! I've changed the fuel filter thinking that would solve the problem, but no. If I just start the engine it just cuts out, If I start the engine and apply a few rev's then it runs fine even on idle. Anybody had the same problem?

Cheers Andy

Andy

check with an DC coming from from alternator. The idea is that both SCV may "play" due to voltage is variable -- and either pass or not diesel to the pump. Cheers

Could you tell me what SCV and MAF means? The filter is fine as I've done a good few miles in the car since the weekend

-SCV -- suction control valve

-MAF -- mass air flow

the filter is fine but you cound remain an air inside

Hi,

How would I know if these parts are faulty, as I've not come across these parts before, being this is my first Toyota?

Thanks Andy

-SCV -- suction control valve ---> the idea is to have the coil resistance measured + compared with manual. In case you have deviation then SCV must be changed on new one.

-MAF -- mass air flow ---> it is sufficient to just clean it (located on the throttle)

- fuel filter --> the filter case /lid has an air escaping plug or bolt aimed to escape an air. You can screw it off on 1/4 of circle , turn the key in ON position (without starter)--> bleed the system using a membrane knob on the lid. Once you can observe a real diesel without bubbles coming from this air escaping plug/bolt then it must be re-tighted.

Cheers/Igor
