Hope this doesn't tempt fate & kind of bite me on the backside but, as you may have read in my earlier post we've recently picked up a 53 plate Avensis 2.0 tx3. 53k FTSH. It's our 1st Toyota & I can't believe actually how good it is. It drives superb,(like new), everything works & fits properly, a real air of 'quality' about it. Mpg amazing for a 2.0l petrol, getting over 30mpg round town. The doors even 'shut like a golf'! ICE is the best I've ever had & last but not least; safety; I keep finding airbags!

We bought from the local dealer; Batemans; & although we bought probably the cheapest car they had they were very professional & treat us like we'd bought the most expensive motor there!

Is this the normal 'Toyota experience' so to speak?

So far; so good.

Al.

Sounds very similar to my buying experience - and I was haggling hard! This is also how Toyota want you to feel about their after sales service - happy punters come back and recommend you to a friend. You do pay for the privelidge but hey, what price peace of mind?

Welcome to the club. Loads of good information on here.

Welcome to TOC

Your experience exactly mirrors mine, which is why I've now been with Toyota for over 25 years!

1 x corolla, 2 x Carina, 3 x Avensis, 2 x Prius and the wife now has an Aygo !!

Just enjoy!

never again will i buy a toyota. paid over 8k for an 57 plate diesel avensis tourer with 66k miles on the clock from inchcape in nottingham. wasnt happy when it when it arrived up the road at my house so the week after i got it i took the main dealer up the road with an erratic idle, smoke from the exhaust on start up, misfire on acceleration and a "tappety" noise from the top of the engine. they phoned later that day saying the car needed a complete engine strip and rebuild and it would take 7-10 days and cost up to £9k which would be covered by warranty. a couple of days short of a month i phoned asking about the car and they told me it was ready and was wondering why i hadnt been in to collect it (my crystal ball isnt working)and the day after i got it home it was sounding "tappety", had a misfire on acceleration, erratic idle and blue smoke from the exhaust which stinks of diesel. i took it back to them again today to complain of this and now they tell me this is normal for a diesel and the after sales manager had the cheek to tell me if i was going to be so fussy i shouldve bought an audi or a volkswagen. then when i said i would maybe prefer to trade it in against something else they said they werent interested!!!

like i said never again...

If you are that unhappy why don't you speak to your local Trading Standards department and also threaten a Small Claims case against the dealership?

With respect, you will not get progress by complaining on a forum such as this. When talking to the dealer simply be polite but forceful and you may well be surprised as to the outcome. Good luck.

what ever the make of car,and no matter how good the service/repairs warrant etc,car salesmen are all the same.

their job is to make a profit on any sale.and you will find them nice and polite and helpful and they will promise you the earth.but remember they are selling you a car for their benifit, not yours.

If your car was returned and you feel it not suitable for use then i would advise you to take it back or seek further advice from another mr T dealers, my car was repaired under warrentee "engine rebuild" as i understand it all work carried out on mine is gauranteed for another 12 months, i would not sit on it i would take it further and not give up.
