WOW anyone ever seen anything like this for the Rev3 onwards?

It would look amazing!

you may be able to mod one to fit rev3 on by removing Badge and light

unit from panel and cutting and grafting onto your panel......

.......may of given me an idea there

anyone got any pics of these things?

think theres a pic of the one on imoc

I think Revision 6 could create something like this. Possibly with a selection of light colours.

I reckon it would look awesome

think i might get a panel and have a play about and see what i

can come up with

Seen these before look well smart...hmm I may be wrong here but isnt it just an indiglo light strip? Like the ones widely available for Civics (indiglo 'H' front Badge and indiglo 'Type R' badges)?

 This thread is useless without pics! :P

nah it really does light up! its linked to the side lights, probably via the registration plate light. I read about this ages ago on some faq site, cant remember were though now :( It was an option on some MR2s however i dunno why its so rare! Would be an awesoem prject for revision 6 tho nudge nudge wink wink

Wish I has a spare Rev3 panel to practice on. Reckon I could come up with something pretty nice.

Hmmmmm..........come on Rev6! Its an awesome idea

On a side not he has just installed Brembo Cross drilled and slotted front and rear rotors which he got here to NZ and installed on the car for just under NZ $700 ($250 GBP's) which I thought was pretty damn good!!

As far as i know, these were only fitted to JDM Anniversary models.

They work by powering up an electro-illuminescent strip masked behind a mirrored panel. Power is around 100VAC, at a frequency of around 100Hz if i remember correctly, and supplied by a small transformer that fits in the boot.

I have two, one of each. An early one for short boot locks, and a later for long boot locks.

Once i locate a second transformer i will be selling the spare one. Photos of either can be supplied on request.

pleeease contact me when u get that second transformer! ....OR i could get the transformer from RS myself if youre willing to sell me the light unit alone? do you happen to know the transformer specs?

I'm wondering if there is any way of modifying the existing badges in any was to make them light up. I'm not sure if the MR2 is painted on or is a different colour plastic. I'll take a closer look when i get time. If you could perhaps carefully cut out the letters and fit some type of clear plastic in to the hole created, you could light it using some of those cold cathold tubes used to light PC's They're 12v and with the appropriate regulators, you should be able to provide a regulated voltage.

Ive been thinking along the same lines.

Oh and as far as I can tell the MR2 logo is actually a seperate plastic insert in the middle plate. This could easily be replaced with a clearer plastic version of the MR2 logo which would accomodate having some kind of light fitted behind.

The light could be wired to the rear lights so that it illuminates when the lights are switched on.
