Auris Squeaking

Hi, I bought an 09 1.4L Turbodiesel Auris Tr last year, have had no major problems with it (apart from it having a 6-speed gearbox), however over the harsh winter the dampers have either rusted or something, everytime I go over a speed bump, it sounds like the dampers are pushing out air, rather than hydraulic fluid. The dealers couldn't find anything (big surprise), however more recently, there's this loud screeching/squealing noise coming from the driver side front wheel. Could be brakes but the noise only stops when I am braking, or the weather is dry.

Anyone else have this issue, or know what it could be? I don't trust the dealers, they always seem to be trying to leech money is all - so going in there with some knowledge would be helpful. The car is currently in its 30k mileage.

The noise from the wheel could be nothing more than a bit of gravel trapped somewhere such as between a disc and pad... examine the disc for signs of scouring, the back as well (use a mirror and torch). Give the brake assembly a good blast with a hose (not direct from a pressure washer)to wash all the brake dust out too.

Can't comment on the noise from the dampers but its normal to hear them work on most cars as the suspension travel increases (such as going over humps)
