ET 38-45 is often quoted for the Yaris.

My Mk2 15" wheels are ET45 but I think the esrlier ones were ET38.

Anything in the ET38-45 range should be OK - sounds like you are running with the wrong offset unless you have spacers fitted to compensate.

But - I'm surprised you notice it that much when driving normally. Maybe the bushes are worn and ned replacing or it needs wheel alignment...

Could be a number of things that cause strange handling....

thanks for the reply i couldnt find anywere what the offset should be. there was originally a set of toyota 13" steel wheels on the car and it handled perfect, it only changed when i put the alloys on, i prob notice it more because there is no power steering in the car, i think im going to just put the steel wheels on again.

Offset of 38 is listed for the MK1 Yaris, I have had a new set of 15" Calibre Vertigo alloys fitted in the last few weeks and I am sure the offset is 45. Handling is about the same as before but better on harder cornering due to wheel width being 195 with a lower sidewall profile. As said before, If you stick to offet 38-45 then you will be fine. The PCD is 100 by the way.

This site explains all about alloy wheel sizing and offset:
