Yaris Central Locking Issue

i have a 99 yaris, its has remote locking but this has never worked since i bought the car as the previous owner has done a shocking bodge job on the remote and key, so when using the key to unlock the drivers side only the drivers door lock opens. It used to unlock all of them. If i use the passenger side door lock it operates all of the locks including the drivers door one. The lock operates fine, so im wandering what could have gone wrong. i have disconnected the Battery for while to see if the software would reset as i was told this could help. But it hasnt done anything. Any help please!

Curiously, if I open the door with the key in my Yaris it also does not open the passenger door!

If I lock the door with the key it does lock the passenger door tho'.

Mine is weird tho' - The passenger side door *has no keyhole*

Just a blank circular blank where the keyhole should go.

It hasn't been a problem since I 99% of the time use the remote to lock/unlock the car (As that DOES unlock and lock both doors unlike the key!), but I find it a bit weird!

(It's funny... it's now 2011 and I still haven't gotten over the novelty of remote central locking!)
