Creaking Clutch Pedal

Hi Gang

If like me you have a Creaking Clutch Pedal when you press it down

try lubricating the push rod where it goes through the bulk head

From the back of the pedal to the slave cylinder

It worked for me

Use a canned spray with a small tube in the spray nozzle to get right into the rod

and where it goes through to the engine bay

Hi mate, it always makes sense to try the simple and cheapest option first ... it just makes me wonder why Toyota dealers change the master cylinder even under warranty!?! If they were charging the customer it would be good money for them but why would Toyota UK give the go ahead, they did mine under warranty so I didn't complain ;).

Regards Pete.

Because there was a fault with the master cylinder bore and that is the most likely cause........or the pivot bushes ;)

Hi All,

I 've recently purchased an Avensis T4 1.8VVTI on the 04 plate, must say probably one of the best speced cars I've ever purchased. However it's starting to develop this irritating habit of a creaking clutch whenever depress the pedal. Has this been known to be a common fault with this shape Avensis. I had the Mk1 Avensis and i mst say it never ever misssed a beat. I'm begining feel disheartened that at first brought a peach now seems to be turning into a lemon. Any suggestions would be great or technical drawings would help.

Hello mate,

all you need to know is in this attached .pdf file, you will see all the bushes mentioned in other replies in the diagrams shown along with all the other clutch components.

Regards Pete.

I cannot understand why the LH drive is different from the RH drive, adjustment is underneath on one side, it performs the same function, and why does some have a turnover spring?

Hi all.

I find the creaking is an intermittent problem. Removing the panel above the clutch pedal and spraying the bushes and cylinder rod with silicone spray or WD40 gives me a few months peace.
