Fitting Ipod Connection To W58810 - Verso

Hi, I'm planning on buying my dad an iPod for his birthday so he can join me in the 21st century but I know it'll only be useful if he can use it in the car.

He's got a 2006 (56) Verso with the W58810 cd/radio. I've seen the Dension kits, as well as the Dice ones and getting one of them isn't a problem, but I fear fitting it could be.

Does anyone have any experience fitting them? How easy was it to get to the back of the head unit? From some of the diagrams it looks quite difficult but Toyota wanted to charge £250 for the kit and fitting but the kit is only around £100 so I'd really like to fit it myself.

If anyone has any photos, diagrams or even links to videos of how to get to the back of the head unit that would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Andy

I've just found out he already has a CD changer under the drivers seat. Will the DICE or Dension kit still work? And would it be possible/easier to fit the ipod kit in the back of the cd changer rather than the radio in terms of access?

Thanks!

We ordered our 08 Verso with the iPod adaptor and I suspect it won't work with a CD changer. The head unit uses the Disc input selector to toggle between the CD in the slot and the iPod, so unless there's more than one changer input (unlikely, but I haven't looked) you can connect either the changer or the iPod but not both.

To be honest, you're not missing much. The interface requires you to organize everything into playlists, or to spend hours clicking the Next button to find the track you want, and there's no option to jump or rewind within tracks. An Aux input with a charger mount would be a better option in terms of control, and you'll hardly make the W58810 sound worse than it already does.

Try looking at the toyota accessory manual site which has a copy of the installation manual for the ipod adaptor:

It looks a straight forward job to do it yourself.
