Clang noise when pulling away very slowly

Hi folks,

I took delivery of a new Corolla T Sport Thursday this week and everything is great apart from a very reproduceable clanging noise heard when pulling away VERY slowly (so far only heard when car has been sitting for a while).

I drove the car this morning to get the newspapers and yes it did it, and 10 mins. later when pulling very slowly away from the shops it did it again.

Girlfriend has heard it and has reproduced while she was driving (so not going even more mad).

Got it booked in to be examined on Thursday. Any guru's out there with the foggiest idea of what this could be?

Is it safe to even drive the car (not doing damage)?

Thanx in advance.

cheers

Stewart

Fret Not

That noise is supposed to happen. Off the top of my head i remember reading about it in the car manual. Its something related to the VSC etc etc..but yes the first time or two it happened i cringed i'd ripped something off it.

Cancel your appointment!

It's VSC making the noise. You should hear it only when you start the engine and slowly pull away (you hear a "clang" after driving a few meters). It's related to VSC and is normal.

means

Vehicle stability control :D hope you enjoy it like as much as I do, it goes like the clangers once you got 4000miles on clock, the secret to the the clanging is not to pull away slowly lol ;)

heh...today I went for small back country roads for the first time in TS... heh, car handles really nice... especially if you go 80 kmh into very tight curve that you did not know it was there at all and managed to spot it only once you were in it ;-)
