Hiya, this is my first post so pls forgive me if u guys talked this to death.

I, ve recently purchased a avensis and wanted to service it. its a 2.2d4d t180 2006

q1. theres no mention of dcat on the log book and the internet (oil selector) suggests that dcat came out in 2008. However, there's dcat symbols on the side of the car and on the engine cover. is mine a d-cat.

q2- ive noticed people mentioning oil type c2, however theres no mwntion of it in the manual. I went to the dealer and they recomended toyota oil 10w-40 (not c2)

Then I asked if i can book a service. on the estimate (they printed) they stated they will use Mobil super 3000 f-p 5w-30. i googled this type of oil. it doesn't exist (F-P).

the people using Mobil 1 esp - how long have u been using it for and any problems yet.

thanks

the Mobil 3000 is the same as my dealer uses and i was shown a 1ltr container of it, cos i could not find tis oil on the Mobil website, and wondered if it realy existed.

its a C2 type and covers all requirements for both petrol and diesel toyotas.

its an oil only available through dealers,so you cant buy it over the counter any where else.castrol do a simuler thing with their magnatec professionel grades.

i use the the esp in my auris but its a petrol model,as ive only done about 5000 miles since ive had the car though not expecting any problems though as its a top grade product.

there are several other members who also use it and they will advise you, i am sure.

yes. The D-Cat definitely existed before 2008.

could F-P be Formula P?

http://www.mobil.co.uk/UK-English-LCW/carengineoils_products_mobil-super-3000-formula-p-5w30.aspx

" Mobil Super 3000 Formula P 5W-30 meets or exceeds the requirements of the following industry specifications:

ACEA C2"

I've got a T-180 estate and I'd only ever put Mobil 1 esp (5w-30) as said by others on this forum it meets the C2/C3 specs for the DPF and for fuel economy. Although both ESP and Castro EDGE meet the VW 507 00 specs, EDGE does not meet the same standards for fuel economy.

Both these oils have a good TBN (Total Base Number) and Flash point but the EDGE oil could cause problems with the expensive D-CAT that we have on the cars as the guys confirmed to me at Opie Oils. A 10w-40 oil is not the best choice for the car in this country, as Toyota recommend (In the owners manue)l that a 5w-30 gives the best over all results. I'd use a 40 weight if I lived in a hotter country, but I'm stuck in windy Welsh Wales and not a hint of the Sun her today! :crybaby:

I've got a new engine fitted in my car. But there wont be any problems using ESP as it a very good cracked synth oil.

If I had a choice of oils to use it would be Motul V300 double ester (5w-30) but the PDF would give up the ghost due to the higher soot content. Shame as I've got 24ltrs of the stuff! But It'll go into my Polo TDi and a Citroen
