Whining Aygo (Sounds Electric!)

Ok so my 3 year 35k Aygo is making a whining sound when in gear.

It almost sounds like an electric car or like it has a turbo fitted.

Took it to mechanic who said that the alternator bairings have failed and it needs replacing.

Anybody had this problem?

Also anybody know which Alt a 2008 Aygo has and where to get one??

It's a 70A Denso, mine has a LOT of numbers on the sticker...

I second this! How far outside the three year warranty period are you?
