Locking Fuel Flap Mechanism

Does anyone else have the problem with the locking fuel flap whereby using the release button in the drivers door causes the

Fuel flap to jam open because the locking pin is retained in the mechanism?

I have freed up the mechanism and use the manual release in the boot compartment when filling up so I can be sure the flap will close. I've looked online for replacements but have been unable to source any.

I'm guessing I will have to get a part from the main dealer; has anyone else done this? What does it cost?

You can access the mechanism by removing the trim in the boot. If the release button is causing the solenoid to pull the pin back then the problem will likely be the pin tight in the sleeve.

Hi Rob I have had the same problem and found one via Google car breakers are very expensive £60 - £80 for a used unit . I found a new one but unfortunately have mislaid the invoice so that's not a lot of help to you. however if you can free the plunger with some WD40 or a bit of grease then that would be the way to go as the removal and replacing of the unit is a very painful operation as it is between the inner and outer skin of the rear body Shell. I did replace mine and now have the old one as a spare which I got working again. hope this is of some help, sorry if its not!!
