Gen 3 Mat Removal

At the end of each day (whether the drivers mat looked dirty or not) I would pull it out and give it a good shake before putting it back so keeping it looking fairly clean. At least I did whilst I owned a gen 2. With the gen 3s locked down style of fitment (to prevent the USA mats from uprooting and wedging themselves under the throttle ;) ) I cannot seem to remove the mat without tipping it vertically and thus depositing anything either on the drivers seat or down beside it. Am I missing a knack to getting the mat out without lifting it vertically?

Help...before the OCD sets in. :help: :D

The drivers side mat is the one that is not so easy to remove. I have a small dustpan and stiff brush which I use for the drivers mat if it is only a small amount of grit etc. . If it has loads of grit and mud on it I get the vacuum out. The passenger side mat is easy to remove and shake. In the rear I have two rubber mats on top of the Prius carpet ones. I find these easier to wash after carrying folk with muddy shoes etc.

Same as chris... Shake the passenger carpet but if you are careful it is possible, just, to remove the drivers side mat. Damn yanks! i've had 'loose' mats (usually from our local Aldi or Lidl in all my cars except this one... Not sure how long the Prius ones will last though, they are pretty flimsy...
