Hi All,

I have owned and loved my Celica for the last 10 months, but last weekend when i started it up and it started to make a Squealing Noise, this sated with me until the car was fully warm, I thought it might be because it was a cold ish night but it happened again every morning since and whenever i start up the car know if it has fully cooled down.

if anyone could get back to me on what could be wrong with as i am not very car technical and don’t trust garages very much as with my last car I had a 2k bill and the problem was still there. The next one I went to charge me £300 and the problem was resolved.

Thanks for reading

Tim

It sounds like a squeaky pulley belt which is common. Maybe the power steering pulley. When they are loose they make an awful squeak when you start it. If you have a friendly mechanic he will know straight away and it can be fixed in 5mins.

Squeaky pulley belt sounds about right. I've had my VVLTI for 8 months, as soon as winter arrived I had that squeaking noise. When my car was in for a service, I asked Toyota to check it out, they said it was due to the damp weather and it would go away (I am actually kicking myself that I took this as an excuse, surely toyota wouldn;t design a car that squeaks in the damp!!... unfortunately I had other prblems such as buckled alloys to distract me). After it being damp, the squeak has come back, so I will try and get this sorted under warranty, anyway, check out the pinned subjects at the top of the forum, there is a common faults link, squeaky belt is one of them, shows you how to replace the belt should that be the problem.
