Help Auto Box Just Stoped Working

Hi, can anyone help? ive had a toyota avensis 2.0 auto 1999 for 6 years,but went to move it today and no gearbox drive,rev,ect, nothing? sliding the stick up and down nothing? seems alot losse? is there a cable that could be broken? cars been working fine, till today.engine works fine. can anyone help. thanks simon

take the shifter apart and have a look.

I had this problem on my Avensis 1.8 1998 auto a couple of years ago. Cable had come loose in the housing where thre gear stick is. Garage took off the housing, put the cable back on. Didn't need any new parts. Charged me half an hour labour. No problems since then.

thanks all cable did come off were gear stick is .rubber gromet perished,so i cut a wall plug in half so it fit on snugly. dont think you can buy rubber grommet on its own,have to buy cable and might be pricey.
