Autoglym Resin Polish V Wax

I usually treat my car paintwork with a proper wax based polish, such as Collinite. It is very hard work though, so today I thought I would use some leftover AutoGlym super resin polish (rain has now scuppered that plan!) due to its' ease of use.

Question is this.... Will the AutoGlym polish strip off the wax, thereby undoing all my hard work a few months ago? Or will it leave the protection of the wax in place, and just add a nicely polished finish on the paintwork?

I like the finish that you get with AutoGlym, but it doesn't last vey long. Collinite wax polish on the other hand lasts for about 6 months. If I could just top up the shine with the AutoGlym, that would be a good solution.

I would assume it would rub it off as polish is an abrasive?

Unless the wax coating is hard enough to polish...

The whole wax vs polish thing is always very confusing, esp. as lots of manufacturers don't seem to know the difference themselves and label everything as carwax when it's a polish!

First to clear something up, the AG is a polish, the collinite is a wax!

The SRP will strip the wax off yes and only offers minimal protection. What you should be doing is using the SRP if that is your polish of choice (it isn't mine) and then top with the collinite.

To keep the shine up use a quick detailer or spray on wax. There are many on the market, if you like AG use their aquawax.

On my celica I recently used:

Washed with Dodo Juice Sour Power

Polished with a rotary using DJ lime prime

Bits I couldnt reach with the machine I used Autobrite Cherry Glaze

Then I topped the lot with DJ Purple Haze soft wax

Thanks Cyker and Hou for the replies. Nice looking PAIR of Toyotas you have there Hou!

As I suspected then, using the AutoGlym SRP would strip off the Collinite wax, so maybe just as well there was a shower of rain yesterday after I had washed the car. I have a spray bottle of MER fast detailer that I bought by mistake a while ago so I will give it a go with that. It's not bad enough to justify the effort of another coat of collinite just yet!

I don't think it will come up quite as nice as that Celica though  .

Here's my attempt at emulating your car valeting skills. Thanks to a proper wax polish, and AutoGlym bumper care on the plastics. Fortunately the previous owner was not a farmer, so no need to dismantle the interior!....... (My car cleaning skills are better than my photography).
