Yaris Radio Button?

Hi all,

I've just bought a 2000 Toyota Yaris 998cc, I'm chuffed to bits, but it came with a tape player and a Sony 10 disc CD changer, but when I press the Tape/CD button on the radio nothing happens... I've had the dash out to have a look at the connections but everything seems fine, the CD changer's disc holder comes in and out fine as well as the tape player which also has power to it, so its not a fuse problem, but I'm running out of ideas? Any suggestions? It's annoying me because I have just ordered an iPod adapter for a tape player and now I won't be able to use it... If anyone can help I would appreciate it very much, everything else on the car is tip top its just the radio thats letting it down!!

What, so neither the tape nor the CD changer work, but the radio does?

Or does almost nothing work?

Is the radio the stock Toyota one or a third party head unit?

If it's not the original unit, those buttons won't do anything.

If the CD changer has been fitted incorrectly or the AVC-LAN connector isn't in properly, most of the centre console controls will also do nothing (I found this out the hard way when I first installed my XCarLink; Turned out I needed an AVC-LAN Y-splitter cable in order to install it properly)

yeah its a standard yaris radio, and i have taken the radio out of the dash and checked all the connections, so i am a bit stumped to be honest... it just seems to be that button? the radio works fine, and the ch changer turns on and the tape player accepts the tapes, so i dont know what to do?
