Fuel And Oil Filter Change D4D

Hi, i'm trying to change the oil filter on my Avensis 2.0 D4D. I've found the canister and have been trying to undo the 14mm bolt but it won't budge. It's now getting to the point that the bolt is beginning to round off. Is there any tricks to getting it off. Also, what's the easyiest way of changing the fuel filter? Thanks in advance, Scott.

Im not sure how similar the 2.0 is to the 2.2 in regards to the fuel filter location/postion, but this thread in the rav section is a good guide to changing the fuel filter and might help?

I had the same problem with my 06 D4D. The drain plug was seized onto the filter housing good and proper and had been rounded badly as a result. In the end I opted to remove the filter housing complete, stuck it I the vice and then removed the drain plug with an extractor designed to bite onto worn bolt heads. The downside is the extra mess as the oil spills out of the filter housing when you are undoing it from the engine. The plus side is, well, you can change the oil filter. This seems to be a fault as I have refitted the drain plug to the specified torque and it seizes every time. I don't bother with it now and just stick a wide container underneath ready to catch the inevitable spill.

I use hexagonal (not octagonal) socket not spanner or wrench.

I have the same problem removing the bolt holding the oil filter on my Avensis T-180 as its rounded off! Bolt made out of chocolate!... I even tried using my Snap-on extractor that's designed to remover bolts that have rounded and that didn't work either! I well have to remover the whole housing like you have done! Any pointers on this will be most welcomed :drunk:
