Rav4 1999 Heat Model 3 Door

Hello All,

Has anyone removed the rear seats from a 3 door Rav 4 Sept 1999 model.

I need the room to fit a wheelcair or scooter in the back.( The auld legs are going) I have checked my Chilton 1996 to 2002 book and it is very spubik on removal except to say that the over 2000 models unclip by pushing the bar underneath the seat and this releases them.

My one does not have this facility. Any advice would be appreciated . Maybe some one has

modified a similar model to facilitate removal to give them more room when required

I removed the rear seats from number 1 RAV - they hinge up by pulling a tag at the back... but to remove them was a simple matter of un-bolting the brackets at the front of the seats. I still have the rear seats and headrests but there's no chance of them fitting back in once the rollcage is fitted and the 2 Sparco Evo 3 seats get bolted and welded in. However, as you say, it does leave a good space for my not-so-fast tri-walker and soon to arrive wheelchair. the knees are gubbed as well now !!
