Abs, Trc And Vsc Lights On

Hi everyone

My car is a dealer-bought 2nd hand 56 plate Avensis 2.0 VVti T4 petrol which I've had since Feb so still under warranty.

Leaving Sainsbury's Car Park just now with my 2 week old baby in back, I noticed that the ABS, TRC and VSC lights stayed on on the dashboard even after I drove off. They were still on when I got home and manual says that if the ABS lights stays on to contact dealer immediately! The Handbrake and Engine Management lights went off as normal.

Anybody know what all 3 of these on at the same time could mean? I'm gonna rinf Toyota tomorrow but seeing as they're 35 miles away and I have a new born baby (which 'd have to bring with me), I'd kinda like to know in advance incase it's the kind of problem that will 'just go away'!!

Thanks

Had the same problem - the lights go off after the initial inspection when starting, but exactly one minute afterwards they came on again.

Took the car to the local dealer and they read the error code - yawrate sensor fault. It was replaced and the problem was solved.

Hey RudyAsp

Thanks for the reply. My lights don't go off at all - they stay on. Just had the fault codes read and there isn't anything new - just the P0136 one that I knew about before. I believe that's an o2 sensor failing and shouldn't be the cause of this surely??

Check your brake lights !!

If both rear brake lights have failed then you get your problem.

Cheers Boswell - I'll check tomorrow and report back :-)

Tenby, it could be the aforementioned yaw rate sensor, but in all likelihood it's probably a wheel speed sensor. I wrote up an article on RAV4World explaining these errors and how to read the codes using only a wire jumper. It's written for the RAV4, but should also apply to your Avensis:
