Hi Has anyone fitted the ipod AUX cable? I have looked on the Toyota install doc's and it show's blow by blow install.but the prising off of the front and top covers is a bit vague.although it shows which direction they are removed it doesn't show if its the front grey that prises off or the whole unit i.e both halves of the front and both halves of the top. Has anyone removed these.

cheers

If you're just talking about the Aux-in socket down by the gear lever and using a standard 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack lead, the cap to the socket is effectively a little door that flips up and snaps shut again after use! One end of the lead goes into the Aux in socket, the other in to the headphone socket on the iPod. You then need to select 'aux' on the display, (rather than 'CD' etc.

Very cheap and simple solution - only disadvantage is controlling the thing while you're driving!

There are all sorts of holders that you can buy to use as well. If you have an iPod Touch or an iPhone the best solution is the TomTom holder. it is expensive, but you can then use your device as a satnav, handsfree, (iPhone only), listen to music and charge the device.

Excellent free satnav app for said devices: http://www.navmii.com/navfree/?country=GB

If you have the iQ bluetooth kit installed you can stream music wirelessly from your iPhone and move from track to track using the controls on the bluetooth control pad (you can even use voice commands if you can remember them !!) ;)

Sorry guys I think you have misunderstood. I meed to remove the front facia of the climate control and the cover over the satnav/audio unit TNS510 so I can install the AUX cable from the back of the TNS5510 to the centre console. I don't want to prise them and dig or crack them. was wondering if anyone has removed them before and could tell of pit falls

cheers

So I decided to let MR T do it.I bought the 2 leads and arranged for them to do it.Although on the installation guide is is down for a half hour job I was charged for 1hr because it was difficult to remove parts of the dash.yea right.Anyway it was returned to me and immediately found no audio from right hand side.Mr T said they needed another ipod to check mine wasn't faulty. I did point out it works just fine on a docking amp and via bluetooth etc.Eventually a salesman was located with an iPhone and confirmed .the installation was at fault. They booked it in for investigation. I pointed out that it can only be one or more of 3 things, the lead from the iPhone to the consul, the lead from consul internally to the TNS5510 or the TNS5510 itself. I went home and checked the external lead by injecting audio on the relevant pins thus eliminating the cable. None of these items they carry in stock. So today it went in for the recall brakes to be done and I got a call to say that the cable from the consul to the TNS5510 was faulty. I asked how it was diagnosed as they didn't have a spare to check with. It's all very technical I was informed.I am very technical I replied I am an electronics engineer with Hons degree and a television broadcast engineer.I pointed out I am not in the trial and error guess work business Its a simple matter of injecting audio onto the relevant pins at the back of the TNS5510 whilst in ipod mode to eliminate all cables then work back to the source..I have let them replace the lead tomorrow but thats the only chance they are getting wasting my time when there is an obvious diagnostic check which will eliminate or. find the problem in minutes. I even had to leave them a ipod because they don'tt have one for checking accessories
