Did you found solution to your problem?

I have the exact same thing. Though maybe its hands-free, what might cause it, but after removing it, still no sound from the Speakers.

My problem started after Battery died.

Do you get any sound from the cd?

Is it only on radio? Then th e FM tuner is faulty and is a quite common fault in alot of toyotas.

If the stereo is powering on, and you have no sound, it is likely the sound output chip within the stereo. What can cause this to blow is (A) power surge (B) Faulty speaker.

Once you have the stereo disconnected you can test the Speakers using a multi meter or a 9v Battery once you can confirm the what cables are the Speakers.

Here is a guide for removal of the radio

Also the volume knob gives trouble. But if you have steering wheel control this should rule that out.

Problem exists both with CD and radio.

No sound from Speakers. Only sound is the beep, which comes when saving radio station for example.

Have also steering wheel control, yes, and volume numbers change also when turing the knob on radio.

What should I test with multimeter? Ohms of the Speakers? As this is probably the only thing I can measure. Output of the radio to Speakers can be checked only with oscilloscope, I suppose.

And what to do with 9V Battery?

You would use a 9v Battery to identify which speaker is which. You will hear a little crackle when you apply it. Looking at the drawing there is no separate amplifier with that stereo. I do not recall either ever seeing one in that setup. It does sound like the sound output chips have failed.

You can check which speaker is faulty with the multimeter on ohms (or continuity) but it is better to apply a load (battery) to the speaker. Did you always listen to the stereo very loud?

Also to confirm If you remove the stereo and power it up, the side of the stereo gets very hot.

Any repair workshop can replace them at a very reasonable cost?

Only thing to watch out for is if you got for a replacement stereo is to check if the fm tuner is compatable for you region.

I'll see if i can root out a part number, but normally they will have taken out a few diodes in the process.
