Hi All,

This is my first thread on this forum.I bought 2006 model Avensis around 4 months back. Its mileage was around 73k when I bought it.Last weekend its gear got locked and workshop guys are telling me that there is a fault with its manual gear box.

Options :

1 . Get Used one

2. Get Recond

3. Get brand new gear box ( out of question)

Workshop guys are telling me recond one has to one year gaurantee and go for it.I am obviously not sure what needs to be done at this stage. Please suggest me what should be decent option. If you can recommend me decent company provides geniune toyota gear box services that will be helpful.

if you can get a warranty with used one it will be the cheapest option.did you take it to a toyota dealership and did they not suggest an internal inspection, cos it may be a selector problem which could fixed cheapr than other options.whilst the box is removed it would pay to overhaul the clutch.

I am getting an year warranty on recon one...used ones are available with one month warranty only..don't want to take risk..Is it possible to get this car partly exchanged with some other new car at CAR Giant etc..as I don't want to invest any money on this...I think toyota dealers will charge hefty amount for this fix and it will not be covered by my warranty services...so right not this car is with a local dealer only..
