Hey everyone,

I'm new to this site, though I've owned an Avensis for quite a while, I've never had to change a bulb in the front d/s lamp until now. Unfortunately, I did attempt to do so but I couldn't work out how to, even my dad tried to help but neither of us could work it out. I have browsed through other topics, and have read that I may need to remove the bumper, but I am unsure as to whether I need to do this, though I did remove the grill at the front in hopes of gaining some sight on how to remove the lamp. It seems quite extreme for something as simple as changing the bulb. I did manage to get the black plug off the back of the lamp, but the rest of the unit that holds the bulb seems fairly fixed into the back of the lamp. I fiddled with it quite a bit but I could neither rotate it, push it or pull it. Can someone please help me solve this issue? I would hate to have to pay someone to do such a simple task.

Any help much appreciated!

On mine there is a hinged wire spring clip which push the bulb into the headlight bowl. The clip has two ends that each locate onto a hook. You need to unclip the headlight back, take off the wiring. Then pinch the two ends of the wire clip together and push the ends towards the bulb to release before the bulb will come out. The bulb should come out once the wire clip is hinged away. Replacement reversal of removal. Whilst being a simple job it is however very very fiddly owing to limited space behind headlight.
