Avensis Verso D4D Power Issue

Hi Guys,

I am sorry if it have been discussed previously.

Bought 2001 avensis verso last week, 100K miles on the clock, 2001 2.0 D4d regulary serviced.

When revved from 3000 above then no increase in power. On motorway can get to 80MPH max but start to struggle on motorway uphill and speed drops to 50 60 on steep road, but not on city roads, probably because of speed. No malfunction showing on dashboard.

Serviced changed air filter, oil filter and cleaned air flow meter , no result. Took it to local garage no codes found and he cleaned EGR valve which according to the mechanic was not bad, but no luck. He drove it with flow meter unplugged but same.

I am taking it to Mr T tomorrow to get hooked up . Any suggestions what could be wrong? Thanks very much.

Thanks very much for the reply. Sorry forgot to mention that fuel filter was also changed. And in starting it has no issues at all.

Check out the SCV thread then, sounds like the symptoms

Does SCV valve problem show up on diagnostics or not? Because Mr T is charging 45£ for it and if that is the case, it might point out the fault exactly before doing anything further. Another point which I have felt is that it is better to go to the specialist directly for the diagnostics, because you and the garage always feel that their diagnostics might not have picked up the problem. Difference of 20£ only in the cost.

Thanks very much.

:eek:I have just phoned Toyota and in verso it comes as a part of fuel pump which would be 900£ plus.

In the link above, the OP said

There was no MIL to start with but that soon changed..

So there may be no code stored, the definitive answer is to measure the valves resistance as per the link
