Has anyone had the same problem I have with my two year old 1.4D U/C , when I reverse up my steep drive way the cluch smokes if it is slipping , been to Toyota main Agent who informs me there is no probleem , but every time I reverse i get smoke form clutch

Hi busher, not being mechanically bright I have done a bit of research on the TOC forums. The most obvious solution could be a slipping clutch. Also a lot depends on the gradient of the drive. If youn are going up the drive from a stopped postion I would think it does put a bit of labour on the clutch,sorry I can,t be more helpfull hopefully some might come along and add some advice.

If you slip the clutch it will stink like cat pee and amonia. If it does it with your foot well away from the clutch, take it in. As Clare says there is something wrong.
