Hi People,

I've bought a 98 Aygo Blue, and there is nothing coming out of the front left speaker and tweeter. This leads me to believe that it's a wiring or output problem rather than a speaker problem. I have followed the guide to get to the back of the radio and am assuming that the brown connector is the one that the Speakers connect to, but all eight wires are green! Can anyone tell me which are the correct pair that go to the front left?

Posted

Front left is the third pair of wires when counting from the end with the latch/hook.

But if you're saying you've got 8 green wires on a brown plug, this leads me to believe that you have a carkit or

SatNav in your car, as the wiring in the car itsself has different wirecolors and uses a white/transparent plug...

If you DO have a carkit, you might want to check whwter the mutebox is connected up

right and doesn't keep the left front channel muted by accident. Whatever the case,

you DO have to check more than just the brown plug you allready found...

Good luck and keep us posted,

Duh, you've got a Blue, so offcourse you've got a carkit...

Thanks Jan, I have no idea what a Car Kit is but that goes a long way to explaining why the pink and purple wire reach the first connector OK, but then become green wires and appear to lead down to to a blue box sitting just underneath where the radio is. They then come back up again (still green)and enter the Radio - there is no continuity on one of the wires - Is the car kit something to do with 'Bluetooth'?

I've just Googled the part number and it's definately the bluetooth and now I understand what you meant by 'muting the front left channel'.

It is possible to bypass the mute thingy?

Posted

If you bypass the Mute you can't use the carkit (hadsfree for your phone) anymore!

But bypassing is as simple as unplugging both plugs with green wires and

plugging the white/transparent plug from the car directly into the radio...

Posted

This is not going well! The white/transparent connector is too close to the wiring loom to plug into the radio when it's hanging out. Is it possible to get an extension?

Posted

Yes, you can get extensions. Halfords will probably have them for about a tenner or so.

Most likely this will be a double extension, so for both power and Speakers.

But are you trying to hook it up through the slot or do you have the entire panel off and up?

If the latter, you can probably reach in better when you disconect the plugs for the rear defog, hazards and A/C first.

I've got the complete panel off. Will try your suggestion - Many thanks for you advice and patience by the way!
