1999 Climate Control Aircon Unit

Hi

just wondering whether anyone else has come across a similar issue with the 1999 Hilus surf climate control unit, whereby you go to engage one of the modes or attempt to engage the air con, and on pressing the button it switches between the internal/external air or even turns the fan on full.

I was able to engage the air con after selecting various buttons or even holding the off button for a period of time, but its now got to the point that it fails to switch off?

Do you think it is removing and cleaning the contacts or do I need a new one, and if so does anyone know where i can get a replacement?

Many thanks

Terry

Hi Terry,

Had same (have same !) problem on my 1998 ssrg , took mine out cleaned it up then put it back ? worked like a charm ! for about a week !!!

that was over a year ago, now its the heater lottery (never know how many barrs are up on the blower when I start up ! toyota dealer in elgin scotland near where i lived then reckoned they could get me a new one for £600 ish ! I tried every where for second hand but no luck , been meaning to have another crack at it for a long time now , have noticed that on a longish trip it sorts itself out ?? as iff needs to warm up or dodgy elecs ?

was going to try cleaning then spraying contacts with laquer ?? will let you know if I do. good luck

Regards Trev
