I seriously doubt they use a variable displacement compressor on the Aygo.

Sounds like an intricate system to produce opposed to the on/off system on a system with electomechanical clutch.

And since the Aygo is a budget-car it would be logical to have a cheaper system on it.

I know for a fact that my car has the clutch-system...

Probably not. Hence the "I don't know". :) The service manager at the dealership from where I bought a Yaris advised the variable displacement type was fitted. He did actually call it a "squashplate" :lol: compressor! I never actually got around to checking on the car as to whether he was correct. I think VW use a Sanden type on the Golf and above for some markets.
