Yaris T Sport Modifications

Morning guys :)

im new to this forum, sorry if i say anything out of place

just bought myself a 01' yaris t sport and i love it, looks nice inside and out and really fun to drive. im on an apprenticeship so my wage is set to near enough double in a couple of months and im looking to get some BHP gains from the little yaris. i was just wondering what parts i should purchase for the vehicle without compromising too much fuel efficiency and reliability etc. while still gaining around 20-30bhp. i will stretch to around £2000 over a period of time.

another point, occasionally my yaris will not start initially, or will take a long time to tick over. if you turn the key back after the fault and try to start the car again, it works instantly. local garage could not find any error codes. any ideas?
