Timing Belt Advice.

Hello fellow Toyotaians.

I own a 96 Corolla which runs like a champ. I take pretty good care off it. It has almost a 100,000 miles on it and the timing belt has never been replaced, Eeeek! :o

Okay, so currently being dead broke, no job, is this something I could attempt myself?

I’m slightly mechanically inclined, though I’m much better with PCs and Networks.

I have no leaks or seepage of any kind, engine is nice and clean.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

:D

Just one piece of advice....

GET IT CHANGED QUICK!

Belt itself only costs about £20 but you will pay around £100 labour

change it tomorrow morning... Toyota timing belt is designed to be changed at around 125,000 kms (which is a lot), but you are way past that mark... depending on model, it might take mechanic around 4 hours to change it so it is not something you could do easily
