Removal Of T-Spirit Stereo

i have just got an adaptor kit from grom audio in the states and they promise it will connect seemlessy with my exisiting toyota headunit,doin a lot of miles for the past few months and the Irish radio stations are doin my head in, music is gone from the airwaves oly to be replaced with hrs of talkin djs and whinning listeners......roll on ipod,podcasts and live streammg of decent world radio

has anone got a bullitin of pics on how to remove the set without damaging it,,,,

I've no pics but I've removed mine and it's not difficult.

Unclip the trim around the gear lever/ashtray. Mine came off quite asily and if I recall correctly I used the ashtray hole to grab it by.

It moves upwards and back to begin with. There's no need to remove the gear knob as you can twist the complete console section out of your way.

Unclip and remove the trim piece which houses the cup holder and the passenger seatbelt light etc by pulling forwards gently. Start at the outer edge at the passenger door.

Now you can see the 10mm bolts which hold the heater controls in place - remove them.

Ditto for the stereo bolts.

Hope this helps :)

edit - you'll need a long reach 10mm socket or similar to gain access to a couple of the bolts - sorry I can't rememebr exactly which ones. And the heater bolts might be a smaller size.

i removed the original head unit and replaced it with doubledin dvd system by pioneer bluetooth, ipod/iphone and much more

removal is easy .plenty tuts on youtube step by step videos thats what i used ...
