Playing An Ipod In An Avensis

I have an Avensis 2.0 D-4d TR Nav which I'm very pleased with. I'd like to be able to play an iPod through the aux socket which is in the compartment under the arm rest between the front seats. I presume that I need another socket for the iPod USB fitting. Does anyone have any experience of fitting something that will do the job and could please explain to me how to fit it, in layman's terms?

many thanks

rob ,

if its a 3.5 mm jack plug (test by plugging in a set of headphones) you can use a 3.5 male to male lead, a one metre from eBay for about $1 should do but you can get dearer ones in the high street.

One end plugs into your headphone output on ipod/iphone/mp3 player and the other into the socket you mentioned.

Thanks for your reply Rob. I've already tried this but no sound. I have a satnav, The owner's manual shows a standard radio/cd etc and the instructions for the aux socket tell me to press the Disc Aux button. I haven't got one of those. So I suspect the iPod works but I can't hear anything. I can't hear anything through headphones in the aux socket either, not even when the radio is playing. So maybe there is a setting that I've missed?

thanks

Rob

I think you just need a lead from the headphone output on iPod to aux socket you would need a cigarette socket connector to iPod connection if you want it to charge as well.

Thanks HH,

As I said to Rob earlier, I've tried that but no joy. No sound at all. I think I must be overlooking a setting somewhere...but where?

regards

Rob

I have used my iPod in mine some time ago, my car is the hard drive music system but should not be that different.

Use the source button on steering wheel to toggle through to aux or if my memory serves me right on mine it is linked to the HDD button.

If this does not work check iPod settings and volume is not right down on iPod.
