Estate Cars

OK

From everyday driving and being out and about..... seems like estate cars are common sight on UK (poss europe) roads ? why is that ? apart from obvious its spacious practical blah blah...and nearly every car like accord, avensis mazda6 mondeo and 3 series has an estate model and an extensive range to choose from. Now i know that in America an estate or staion wagon as they say use to be popular, dont seem like the case anymore seeing camry and accord estate use to be built there(same time imported to uk/europe & japan)and now they dont sell or build an estate equivalent of them cars for over decade. whereas in the 90s some cars wasnt offered as estate in uk/europe and ones that was didnt sell alot of, like the us built accord didnt sell alot of here or offered with a big choice of trims back in the days then they stopped them and then somehow got reintroduced in 2003(only this time it comes from japan), whats changed over the years ? btw im not a fan of estates, no real need for one currently!

I personaly like the estate version of most cars as I find they look better and you've got the option of loading it up to the hilt. I've own both the saloon and the estate but there is no question in my mind!

Estates have always been fairly popular in the UK.

What happened in the US was the rise of the SUV where many of the SUVs were cheaper for the size/space because most of them were based on light commercial vehicle platforms & they therefore didn't have to meet certain legal requirements that cars had to.

& when fuel is like $1.50 a gallon (as it was) who cares that they aren't as economical as a car ...

To be fair... the skyline is an ugly box on wheels that goes like stink too!

All out company cars are passat estatesm - simply because our engineers may need to lug big machines about.

As for "fashion" not sure... although I have seem some older BMW "rat look" estates and they kinda work....

Technically my truck is an estate... it certainly came in hand this weekend comping.... I still need to unload it :(
