Central Locking

Hello I tried to open centrally locked doors using key fob and it didn't work. I put a new Battery in but it still doesn't work. I can open doors manually but of course the alarm goes off. Have you an idea as to what could be wrong please? It is a 1999 model but this is the first time this has happened. It doesn't lock the doors now that they are open. I've left it unlocked for the time being.

We have had similar probs with our 2008 XTR. Had the fob checked by mr T and was told it was working fine.

Thry then explained that elecyrical interference can stop it working. Apparantly this can include a wireless router signal in the house!

Yes! had exactly the same problem with my 2008 XT5. I posted this earlier so you may be able to find the thread and the reply ( very helpful ) from SHCM.

Myself ( RAV ) and a colleague ( SAAB ) both parked next to an electricity sub-station in the grounds of the local school. Neither of us could get the remote opening to work when we got back to the cars. Once they were moved away from the sub-station they worked perfectly.

When i had my X3 I could not go to Tesco in Douglas because where ever I parked it on their car park I could either not lock it or unlock it. First time it happened I rang the BMW dealer on the island and his first words where are you in Tesco,s car park.It was due to interference in that area that caused all manner of problems. Funnily enough i have never had the same problem with the Urbancruiser.

Regards Clare

Missed this post as I've experienced this issue this evening for the first time & opened a new thread as I thought I was going mad! :-)
