After waiting since February for our new IQ2 (reason for delays pretty obvious) I have just driven it home and it a different animal to my old friend the IQ2 which I have had since Feb 2009.

It is so smooth with hardly any road noise, the gears go in without a murmur, the side mirror motors are nearly silent and wonderfully (to me, pathetically) the interior has that "new car" smell which my first IQ did not for some reason, although it was new when I bought it.

The interior is a vast improvement too, they seem to have listened to peoples niggles and discreetly upgraded things as required.

I think I am going to love this one even more than the last, and that is saying something.

Sorry for hasty pics but I have a lot to do...!

Very very nice.

I have seen 2 brand new red ones in the flesh this week & they look just great.

The Euro 5 models do seem much smoother running.

enjoy

Thanks George, it wasn't just my imagination about the smoother running!

If I could pick your brains a bit more...on the top of the steering column housing there is a moulding with slots in it, a bit like a button or something you should be able to turn, but it was not present in my "old" IQ and I can't find any reference to it in the manuals.

It may well be mentioned in the manuals and I have missed it, but do you know what it is for?

I am not keen on trying to move it in case it falls off in the process.

Perhaps it is just a styling quirk, but as it is not present in the earlier car it intrigues me!

Do you have Engine stop/start,& the button elsewhere.

Is this the place where the button would be on a Multi Drive with Smart entry & Start System?

Just the normal big illuminated start button on the right lower dashboard.

I don't imagine it would be the place to put a start/stop button as it is obscured when the wheel is off centre.

I'll go and have another look in a minute.

I have had another look and it looks like a "bleeper", for seat belt warnings etc, as there is a wire running from the back of it.

It is held to the top of the wheel housing with a sticky pad, I think.

My previous IQ's bleeper was hidden behind the dash somewhere, this must be the preferred position now.

Looks like a microphone to me (part of a handsfree kit)

Never thought of that Dave, good thinking. That must be what it is.

Thanks.
