Obd 2 Scanners

but your Rav is 2008, so all vehicles, whether petrol or diesel would be working after 2004 definately.

Also i might have realised an issue. If you look at my photos, pin 4 isn't there...i believe all scanners require this pin

You may be on to something there. If pin 4 got pushed back into the connector housing, that would be the problem. See if you can remove the connector or at least get behind it and check that pin.

Cheers june...could you kindly have a look at my photos? do it look like pin 4 is missing or is it me?

The connector is in a very awkward place, so sometime tomorrow hopefully, i'll take a look at it.

I honestly don't know, Billy. In some shots it appears to be there, and not in others. You should be able to push in on the 2 ears on either side of the connector and remove it from the mounting hole. Then you could inspect it front and back.

hi guys,

been very busy lately so i didn't get a chance to update. It seems like my obd connector works fine. I met a mobile mechanic..very nice chap and he said he'd check and give me the error code (if any) for a tenner. I said ok and he plugged his machine which found my vehicle instantly. So it seems like i have either an incompatible or faulty reader...don't know what to do now.

Oh by the way, here is the error:-

P1250 Turbocharger System Malfunction

P1250 is one of those codes that pops up now and again but isn't listed in the standard code lists for the RAV. I think it is telling you that there is an "over boost" condition. In this case you should check all the vacuum hoses in the turbo circuit and then turn your attention to the vsv (vacuum sensing valve) which is located just to the right of the intercooler as you look under the bonnet (between the engine and the air filter).

Have a look at these and let us know how you get on.
