Hi, I am looking for a instrument cluster/speedo for my Toyota HIACE 1980 1587cc (petrol) Campervan (Danbury conversion). Had no luck so far finding one. Would anyone have one to sell or know where I could find one.

thanks,

Hiya

I just bought one of these, I am trying to renovate it, because it is a bit of a mess.

Finding spares are a nightmare.

What are they like to run, when they are running?

I have yet to have a run in mine

Hi Geoff,

Mine is in a reasonably good condition considering its age. we've done 1000Km during the Easter break and just came back from a 2500Km road trip in Scotland, this van is amazing, comfortable and very reliable. The only problem is my instrument cluster, the speedo, milometer and fuel gage are not working, so I need to guess everything. (run out of fuel on the motorway only once!) I've send the speedo for repair to a company that specialised in this but they couldn't fix it. So i'm looking for a replacement but had no luck so far. Spares are very hard to find indeed, do let me know if you find some.

Hope your renovation going ok.

Hi Eloi

Started the van up, doesnt seem to run too badly actually. I have managed to track down the guy who owned it before me, and he says that when he bought it the van had only done 66,000 miles, so, if this is true, I could have found a bargain!

But .........

The rust on the thing is amazing ! I have started doing some of it, but it could do with lots of new body work, which I cannot find panels for, so it is going to be a lot of Body Filler work!

Just as a matter of interest on your speedo, have you tried some of the breakers that you can find on Google?

Also, some parts on eBay.nz and also eBay.au

Hey there Eloi,

I have a spare Hiace speedo. Took it from I saw going to be scrapped so it should work. Here’s a picture — http://cl.ly/Bat6

Have you found one yet? Or are you still looking?

Cheers

Jon
