Hi!

I have an 1998 2.2d picnic!

During the last months, the car is getting more and more difficult to start!

In the beginning, the car would start, but would not accept throttle for the first few seconds, and less tourque when cold at low rpm.

Now I have to run the starter for perhaps 5-6 seconds before the engine starts, sometimes it stalls, and I have to run the starter again. When started, I now have to keep the throttle pressed for several seconds before the rpm slowly increases. After rewing the engine a few times or letting it idle for a moment, I can slowly drive off without the engine stalling.

When hot it allmost drives normal - still lacking power at low rpm - specially when cold.

It does not seem to smoke a lot when it finally starts, probably meaning that it is a fuel problem.

Is there any way to test the fuel pump pressure?

I did remove the fuel return hose from the pump, and when running the starter, fuel does come out - not much though.

I also loosen one of the pipes to one of the injection nozzles, and fuel does come out fine.

Any ideas are very welcome!

Regards
