Poor Steering Wheel Returnability On '04 Camry

Recommended Posts

I have a '04 Camry LE that has poor steering wheel returnability. Every time I make a turn, steering wheel returns back but not back to center position. Has anyone else has this problem too?

I have heard that many camrys are making a noise in there steering when the wheel is turned, and the dealer does some greasing to solve the problem. Maybe yours needs the same even though it doesnt make a noise. When things are dry they do hang up at times.

Tire condition, air pressure and alignment will also affect this.

I have the same problem! The steering wheel pulls to the left and I have only 800 miles on the vehicle.

The issue is that Toyota is aware of the defect and remedied the defect as of Feb 2004, but all cars on the lot before that time have this defect.

Take it in to the dealer- they know excatly what is wrong with it. Although they may not want to fix it.

I am organizing a class action suit against Toyota for this problem and their continuance to sell me the Toyota knowing that the steering is off.

240 Miles - Same problem - car pulls left. Dealership says its already had the modification -- and it still pulls left! Please let me know about your class-action suit.

I am not sure if I am experiencing the same problem. I have a 2003 Camry with just under 36,000 miles. I have an intermittent problem when I take a slow relatively wide left turn the wheels want to stay in that direction and I have to manually turn the steering wheel out of the turn, and I feel a little sticking point. I am concerned because my warranty will be up and I am afraid that if the problem gets worse I will be in for some major repair without a warranty. I have had the car in twice and both times the technician was not able to duplicate the problem. Is twice enough to document the problem? Anyone have any advice.

Kind regards

Alan :(
