Don't think it's said enough buy thanks to all contributors on this forum.

Engine management light came on on Saturday on my Avensis Verso.

Dived straight into this forum and read all the various threads.

Ordered ODB bluetooth reader Sunday for £25.

Tested all sensors that resistance was 16ohms (or thereabouts) and found one that was way out.

Ordered the correct sensor from SparkPlugs for £82. Denso direct replacement.

Everything arrived recorded delivery via Royal Mail this morning at 9.30am.

Got my wife to get a 22mm ring spanner on her way home from work. Better if it's a

Installed OBD reader in socket in car and ScanMaster ELM s/w on laptop with bluetooth.

Guess what - P1155 error - the usual suspect. Cleared error.

Took off heat shield, bit of WD40 all round and with 22mm spanner got old sensor off.

Tested new sensor across black wires and reading 16ohms.

Installed new sensor into manifold. Heat shield back on.

Started engine and took it for a short drive down the road and back again.

No malfunction light on and seems to run smoother than before.

Total cost was £112 for parts and nowt for labour.

Toyota was going to sting me for £220 for the sensor alone.

So to everyone who has contributed to this forum, especially, the oxygen sensor topics, I thank

you.

thanks for the info ken. May i ask other than the EML, what symptoms was your vehicle having? i.e. power loss, juddering?

the reason i ask is that my verso d-4d also had the EML come on and suddenly the car lost it's power and would not move more than 0=5mph. I parked up and restarted the engine and hey presto everything was back to normal.

I have noticed that even without the EML, the car doesn't have good power when in gears 1 & 2.

I've ordered a ELM 327 and hope this'll give me some clue.

thanks again

Apart from the EML light on the only physical symptom I could see/feel was a very bad thrum/throb at tickover

which was more noticeable standing still. It may have started to show other symptoms the longer I drove it

but wasn't wanting to risk damage. Suspect your car has gone into limp mode to try and prevent

possible damage to the engine etc. ELM327 is very good. Just be careful as with the right software you can

actually remap the engine characteristics!

This is the thing mate...i don't have a clue what to do. I have never used Elm or any obd, so i just wish there was someone on here who could recommend the right software, as well as instructions what to do without doing any damage...ANYONE?
