Toyota Navigation Losing Accuracy?

Hi there! I got the lovely Toyota navigation unit in my IQ, and lately during the last 2 weeks it has been completely wrong and thinks I am driving somewhere completely different. Had to manually adjust it back to the correct road, twice now. It did happen when I emerged from underground parking facilities, but has always been fine before.

Anyone else have similar experience?

Hi there

I have had numerous satnav receivers which are rechargeable and are usually placed on the dashboard and bluetooth linked to my pda or smart phone with TomTom on. some of them after a period become (deaf) a technical term when the electronics go low sensitivity. the effect is it gets poor data and puts you in all sorts of paces. first noticeable, it takes a fair while to get lock or recover once obscured from the sky.The receiver in the iQ is mounted just under the top cowling towards the wind screen. It doesn't like things placed on top of of it, like paperwork mags etc. Assuming you don't have any obstruction on top of the unit I would suggest it is the receiver itself that is at fault..Another thing that kills them is close proximity to mobile phones when you are far from a cell. The phone transmits in the power of 600mw when far from a cell this can saturate the (front end) very sensitive transistor and damages it and it goes less sensitive and you experience the sort of problems you have. Usually if you put it on top of the cowling. There is no easy way of testing it other than replacing it which is a half hour job at MR T Hope this helps

P.S you might want to try disconnecting the main Battery and re-connect after say 30 seconds. I noticed mine lost all its settings previous places etc after a Battery disconnection so could be regarded as a kind of reset.worth a try
