Draining Fuel Tank

It seems I can't get my car fixed as the head gaskets gone. My dilemma now is the car has a full tank of fuel. I have tried to syphon the fuel out of the filler neck but it won't work. Is there another simple way to drain the fuel out ?

I know the feeling - I've sold more than one car with more petrol in it that I would have liked, however they were all going to be continue to be used!

Can you, is there any way, that you can get to the feed tube from the tank to the engine at the tank end?

Of course there is always the option, if you happen to know any of the local scroats, that you could get them to do it :yahoo:

it does seem a little strange that you can't get a 5 year old car fixed though?

I've tried many places no one seems to want to touch it. I've been surching around for a replacement engine for a few now. It seems only alternative I'd to part ex it. Such a shame too.

Maybe that's too obvious, but have you tried a Toyota dealer?

Head gaskets and/or extreme oil consumption may be covered by their extended 7 year warranty program for such well known faults.

I had this problem a few months back. Like you I tried to siphon from the filler neck but there seemed to be a baffle plate in there to prevent that. So I located the fuel pump relay which was in a fuse box under the bonnet and removed it. Then I disconnected the line at the fuel filter and routed it into a 5 gallon can. Back to the fuse box where I put a jumper wire into the relay socket to switch on the fuel pump which drained the contents of the tank into the can. Keeping an eye on it I pulled the jumper when the can was full, emptied it into my other car and repeated the process. Had a little less than 10 gallons total. It was a bit slow but my fuel pump was on its last legs and didn't have much pressure, which is why I was draining the tank to replace it. All in all it was quite easy!
