Hi everyone...kinda new here so thought il ask a question to other celica owners...whenever you switch your headlights on does your rev counter rise? And when you switch them off it goes back down...I thought il ask because i was wondering if anyone else have this happening with there celica because having owned various other makes I've never known this to happen with my other marques. The rev counter has always remained the same regardless of whether the lights are on or not....

This is common and nothing to worry about. Its just that the headlights put extra load on the alternator so the engine revs up slightly to compensate.

Some celica's i've owned do it and others dont but nothing to worry about.

Appreciate the advice leeky,, just that before I use to own a 53 corolla 1.6vvti, the rev counter stayed permanent and didn't fluctuate upwards...this changed when the car went over 70,000 miles and then the rev counter went up whenever I switched the lights on!...although the car drove normal...I did all the usual checks..alternator, Battery etc but there wasn't any problem there...after about 74,000 miles the engine light suddenly came on...and after checks on the oxygen sensors I found out my catalytic converter needed changing!...expensive! Anyway just didn't want the celica going down the same road....
