Hi All Newbie With Verso T180

hi all

I have just purchased an ex lease verso t180 on 2008/57 plate with 71k on the clock with full toyota history, went for one of these because the other option was smax diesel but could put up with the mountain of problems especially staters and DMF's so went for the verso. Been reading through the forum a bit and came accross the head gasket problems that these seem to suffer, i gather extended warentees are now 112k or 7 years but just have a couple of questions on the matter.

1. Do the main dealer service history have to be kept up or just genuine parts for the warantee to extended? ( im a mechanic no longer doing it, brother still is )

2. is this problem guarenteed to happen or has some passed through this barrier with no probs?

and lastly is there anything else i need to keep an eye out for?

another thing i noticed with the air con, when its on the main rad fans keep cutting in and out every few seconds is this how it should be? also bit of a strange diesel knock after the fans cut off is this right too?

bit of an update , got air con sorted turns out to be too much gas in it ( should be 2 bar on low side was 8 bar) now working perfectly, fuel side cleaned out egr got 30mpg worked out with fuel top up comp was saying 24mpg but take into account the on board comps still count down mpg when vehicle is idling stationary.
