hi guys

can anybody shed any light on this one for me

at present i have 215/50/17 tyres on my car and if i take a corner a bit too fast i can hear a scraping sound from where the tyre rubs the plastic guard under the wheel arch,

having looked on a few websites it says i should have 215/45/17 on the car !!! its a 2.2 D4D tspirit if that helps .................. which tyres should be on the car ?

cheers

paul

p.s i have all the paperwork for my car and all tyres were replaced at kwik fit before i purchased it , so i have just been putting the same size on

Hi Paul, you have the correct size tyres on your car so no worries there then, the problem maybe with the plastic liner so can you see any marks where the tyre is rubbing and is it at the front? Make sure your tyres are at the correct pressure at 35psi all round and that the shocks are not worn out and so are very soft when you push the car bodywork down also that all the steering and suspension linkages are also in good condition. Maybe you could take your car back to Kwikfit ( I can already hear others advising against Kwikfit but you did get the tyres from there) they may do a free safety check for you.

Regards Pete.

When it comes to Tyres, i trust in ADAC (German) tests. Yestrday I bought Bridgestone Turanza ER300, which are in the top of ADAC test. My size is 205/55/R16 on Avensis 2.0 D-4D. According to spec in my car they should be at 2,4 bar, which suprisingly decrase fuel consuption by 0,5l/100 km from 2,2 bar.

After some research I found that Turanza is not tyre with sport performance if you looking for that.

Cheers,
